Clean Chain degreaser is a powerful and revolutionary degreaser. It can be used neat as a gel on the chain, or diluted for use in a chain bath or machine. Clean Chain can even be diluted to make 1 litre of Green Clean bike cleaner.

Summary

Other companies make degreasers 'with natural orange extract'. Unfortunately, they also contain petrochemicals, and are harmful to you and the environment, (The tin will say this if you read the small print).
Clean Chain contains citrus extracts as active ingredients, not a token green gesture, a special detergent made from coconut oil and other powerful yet natural ingredients.

  • Clean Chain degreaser is a concentrate of Green Clean bike cleaner. Simply pour Clean Chain into an empty Green Clean 1 litre bottle. Then add 900ml of water (preferably clean rain water from a water butt) to give 1 litre of Green Clean.
  • There are 4 different ways of using Clean Chain degreaser:
  • As a degreasing anti-lube
  • In a chain cleaning machine
  • In a degreasing bath
  • As a Green Clean re-fill
  • 1. As a degreasing anti-lube
  • Apply like a chain lubricant to your dirty chain. Apply liberally to the whole length. Ride the bike for a minute to work Clean Chain in.
  • Wipe off with a dry rag, and then wipe again with a second wet rag or brush. (Sponges are not recommended for chain cleaning.) Next, thoroughly rinse the chain, dry then re-lube.
  • 2. In a chain cleaning machine
  • ‘Chain cleaning machine’ refers to a mechanical devise with cogs and internal bushes designed to clean the bicycle chain. They usually fit to the chain, with the chain running through the machine.
  • Clean Chain degreaser can be used in one of these machines. We recommend 1 part Clean Chain, to 3 parts water.
  • 3. In a degreasing bath
  • For extra dirty chains, and perfectionists, Clean Chain can be used in a chain bath. We recommend 1 part water, 1 part Clean Chain. Put the chain in the bath (a small flat based container). Cover the chain in Clean Chain. Then fill the container with an equal amount of water. Leave for a few hours. Wipe down then rinse the chain thoroughly with water.
  • 4. As a Green Clean re-fill
  • Simply remove the whole cap and nozzle. Pour into an empty 1 litre bottle of Green Clean. Leave for 1 minute to ensure all the Clean Chain has come out. Next, top up the bottle with water up to the top label line. For every 100ml of Clean Chain, use 900ml of water.
  • We have had people use Clean Chain to stop squeaky disk breaks. We cannot technically recommend this. This is mainly because in the short term it may stop the breaks from working due to its slippery nature.
