Public Sector

Healthy living, being environmental friendly and cost cutting are all themes running though the public sector in recent years. Cycling is an excellent way to make an impact in all three of these areas and Pearson Cycles has been helping a number of public sector organisations to achieve this. We have introduced a number of programs, offering bikes to rent for employees, helping children learn to be safe on the roads, and offering an exciting new addition to school P.E. lessons.

Have a look below at some of the schemes we've helped set up below and if you'd like more details, or you're interested in partnering with us on similar schemes, please contact us at sales@pearsoncycles.co.uk

We have provided Ursuline High School, in Wimbledon with 40 mountain bikes to be used by the pupils in a variety of schemes. The bikes are used for P.E. lessons, advocating physical activity and expanding the diversity of sport offered at the school. The bikes are also used for cycling safety training, improving the safety of the pupils on the roads and encouraging them to cycle in their own time. To further aid this, the bikes are available for the pupils to borrow outside of school hours for travelling to and fro from school.

Additionally, we provide a support service for the fleet of bikes, servicing them regularly to maximise their safety and reliability. We have also helped with the school’s selection of workstands, tools and spares to allow them to make their own repairs, reducing yet further the time that any bikes are out of action.

Wandle Valley school were looking to offer cycle proficiency training to its pupils, helping them to be safe on the roads, as well as help generate interest in mechanical engineering. To help them in this aim, we selected and then delivered a range of bikes – BMX and mountain bike – to suit all sizes and ages at the school. We continue to service the bikes, ensuring their continual reliability and safety.

To help increase interest in mechanical engineering, we recommended workstands, tools and spares to the school to use with the pupils in order to get hands-on experience. Furthermore, they were then able to help with the on-going maintenance of the bikes, maximising the reliability of the bike fleet.

We worked with the Epsom and St Helier NHS trust to provide their employees with a pool of bikes that they could use for free to commute on. In line with the range of cycling abilities in any work place, we provided a range of bikes to suit any rider: Brompton folding bikes, commuting hybrid bikes and electric bikes.

The scheme helped the trust demonstrate their green credentials and encouraged employees to have a healthy lifestyle. In addition, we provided qualified cycle instructors to assist with training the staff in how to ride safely and responsibly on the roads.
